Rossmann is one of the biggest drugstore chains in Europe, with around 56,000 employees in 9 different countries that include Germany, Poland, Hungary, Turkey and Spain. Their Hungarian webstore has more than 1.5 million visits monthly.
Rossmann Hungary was not satisfied with the performance of their previous product recommendation engine. Rossmann wanted product recommendations to impact their KPIs more and wanted to try another solution.
Prefixbox offered an A/B test as a proof of concept for Prefixbox’s AI Recommend suite. Prefixbox’s solution generated 3.5 times more revenue than Rossmann’s previous solution.

The shoppers who saw product recommendations from Prefixbox’s AI Recommend modules generated 3.45 times more revenue than those who saw recommendations from their previous provider.
The treatment group, receiving Prefixbox’s Complementary and Personalized Recommendations, processed 2.5 times more orders than shoppers who saw products recommended by the previous engine.
Proving the added value of Prefixbox’s Personalized and Complementary Recommendations, the treatment group not only generated more transactions, but the orders’ average value was 30% higher as well.
Personalized Recommendations provide shoppers with tailored product suggestions strategically placed throughout the shopping journey to help them discover and purchase new items.
The feature analyzes individualized user behavior such as page views, clicks, and cart actions in addition to similar shoppers’ behavior to suggest products that are personalized to them.
Complementary Recommendations provide shoppers with data-driven product suggestions by analyzing past transactions to identify groups of products commonly purchased together and effectively suggest additional, relevant items.
